BRIEF: Take an existing story and illustrate it to create a children's book. 2022
SOLUTION: I chose an old traditional story by Charlotte Herr 'How freckle frog made herself pretty' and embraced the whimsy and romance of older illustrations and fairy tales to create a hand illustrated book with detailed visuals.
I wanted to portray it as an object to enjoy, admire and value, so printed the book as a hardback and added a gold foiled dust jacket. This was really quite a personal project, taking inspiration from some of my favourite stories handed down from my grandparents and entertaining my own childhood whims to hopefully end up with something I would have kept as a child as a 'special' possession.
